I welcome your comments and questions about the research project you will be starting this month. The purpose of the project is to introduce you to a research process model, the Big 6 and the Web 2.0. Using the Big 6 model, you will research the concept of Web 2.0 and select at least one aspect of it and present it to the class in a multimedia presentation.
One of the computer labs has been reserved for your use. You will be able to save your work to your network folder, the same one you used in 6th grade.
There are several programs in the lab you may use for this purpose. Powerpoint, Flash, Dreamweaver, and others may be familiar to you. Inspiration and the Smartboard notebook are not and you are more than welcome to try them.
Because the school filter is unpredictable, YOU WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WORK ON THIS PROJECT AT HOME. I clarify: some of the Web 2.0 aspects are so new that the school filter may be blocking them. If you work at home and then try to link your presentation to certain websites, the links will not work or will be blocked by the filter, so your presentation will be incomplete.
If you decide to work at home anyway, you MUST test all your links (if any) before your due date to make sure they are not blocked by the filter at school.
